Fiji Warriors on track

The Air Pacific Fiji Warriors have stamped their mark and are confident of putting up a fight as they look at another year of successfully defending the Pacific Rugby Cup title.

The defending champions dominated possession and territory in the first half, and consequently which saw hooker Tuapati Talemaitoga, winger Paula Tiko and halfback Niko Matawalu run in tries.

Matawalu scored the first try of the match with a brilliant solo effort   weaving through the Savai'i defence, to score under the posts. Converted by Taniela Rawaqa, the Warriors jumped to an early 7 0 lead.

Vice captain, Dan Rawaqa admitted that having a sit down before the game was a boost as this saw players gelling together.

The Warrior's next match is against Tautahi Gold while Savai'i takes on the Tau'uta Reds on Tuesday in Nadi.

The Bodyguard Fiji Barbarians came out very strongly in the second half but fell short to Tautahi Gold as they were edged by the visitors by 27-24.
