The Vodafone Fiji U23 soccer team are out of the OFC Olympic Qualifiers after being beaten 6-1 by New Zealand in the semi-final this afternoon.

Fiji trailed 4-0 at halftime before conceding another two goals in the second half.

Mohammed Shah scored Fiji's only goal in the second half.

Fiji had represented the Oceania region in the 2016 Rio Olympics after beating Vanuatu in the 2015 Pacific Games final.

Fiji were due to play New Zealand in the final but they were disqualified for fielding an uneligible player in their semi-final win over Vanuatu.

New Zealand will now play the winner of the Vanuatu and Solomon Island match in the final.

The final will be played at 3 pm this Saturday at Churchill Park.
