The Fiji Swimming Team to the Pacific Games have completed their campaign 6 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze.
All of the swimmers that participated and won medals were locally trained by their individual clubs and also supported by their national trainer.
Taichi Vakasama won two gold medals and set two new Pacific records.
In the Men’s 100 metres Breaststroke, Vakasama clocked a time of 1.02.84 while the old record was 1.02.95.
Vakasama also broke the Men’s 200 metres Breaststroke record where he clocked a time of 2.14.98. The old record was 2.17.06.
Saint Joseph’s Secondary School student, Moana Wind won two gold medals in the Women’s 100 metres Breaststroke and also in the Women's 50 metres Breaststroke.
Matelita Buadromo also won two gold medals.
She won gold in the Women's 200 metres Freestyle final and the Women's 4 x100 metres Freestyle Relay.
That relay team was made up of Yolani Blake, Cheyenne Rova, Rosemarie Rova and Buadromo.
The Fiji Men’s National 7s team also beat Samoa 7‑5 to win gold while the Fijiana 7s team won gold after beating Australia 14‑5.
Fiji is fourth on the Pacific Games Medal Tally with 17 gold, 22 silver and 64 bronze.
