The Fiji fifteens team manager for the 2007 World Cup and current Fiji High Commissioner to the UK Pio Bosco Tikoisuva who was at the 2011 Rugby World Cup draw in London this morning said it is surprising that Fiji is again pooled with Wales for the 2011 World Cup.
Tikoisuva said the World Cup is still a long way to go and you never know how strong the teams will be in the next three years, after Fiji were drawn with reigning World Cup champions South Africa and Wales in Pool D.
Welsh captain Ryan Jones said they are happy to have Fiji in their pool, who destroyed them last year.
He said revenge is on the player’s minds.
South African team captain John Smit said it is always good to be in a tough pool.
This morning in London, Fiji were drawn in pool D with defending champions South Africa and Six Nations champions Wales.
They will also be joined by the Oceania 1 qualifier which could be Samoa and possibly Namibia completing the group as the African qualifier.
Tournament favourites New Zealand are in pool A alongside France, Tonga and the top qualifiers from the Americas and Asia.
England was drawn in pool B with Argentina and Scotland and will also play the top European qualifier and the winner of a playoff.
Ireland will take on Australia, Italy and the second qualifiers from Europe and the Americas in pool C.
The 2011 Rugby World Cup will be hosted by New Zealand.
