The Fiji Pearls got thumped by South Africa 90-35 in their second game of the Netball World Cup this morning.
The Pearls scored 9 points in the first quarter, 10 in the second quarter, 6 in the third quarter and 10 in the last quarter.
The match began at rapid speed, with the Fiji supporters making plenty of noise in the stands but this was cut short as South Africa led 12‑2 in less than six minutes into the contest.
By the end of the first quarter, the South Africans were leading 24‑9.
With Fiji’s passing lacking slickness, South Africa were able to pick off loose balls with ease, capitalising on even a small error of judgement on several occasions and counter‑attacking to excellent effect.
South African goal shooter, Lenize Potgieter made 33 goals from 34 attempts in the game while Unaisi Raulini of Fiji made 13 goals from 18 attempts.
The Fiji Pearls will now face the Trinidad and Tobago at 5.25am tomorrow.
