The Fiji Futsal Soccer Team has been stopped from flying to Fiji from New Caledonia tomorrow morning and may now have to wait for two weeks to return home as health authorities suspect some players from other nations competing in the OFC Futsal Championship may have been infected by measles.
Fiji Football Association's Vice President Jiten Reddy who is in New Caledonia confirms to fijivillage that health authorities in New Caledonia suspect Fijian soccer players may have come into contact with some players from other nations who are suspected to be infected by measles.
However, this will be confirmed in the next few days after necessary medical tests are done.
Reddy says all Fijian players are fine and are now awaiting health authorities to clear them from any threats.
Reddy adds they are now trying to work with the hotel staff to extend their stay in New Caledonia.
He says the Fijian community in New Caledonia have assisted them with meals today and they will make arrangements from tomorrow.
