Vodafone Fiji Bati centre Taane Milne has been sacked by the West Tigers for a second contravention of the NRL's illicit drugs policy.
Milne's two‑year contract which was only signed in June last year, has been terminated immediately, with an automatic 12‑match NRL suspension to be served before the 22‑year‑old would be permitted to return to the game.
He has earned five caps for the Bati and has played 18 games for the St. George Illawarra and a few games with the Roosters lower grades.
A Wests Tigers statement said Milne's first infringement was at a rival NRL outfit, while the club says it will provide him with appropriate counselling and support.
The NRL adds that after due process and full consideration, and in collaboration with the NRL's Illicit Drug Policy guidelines, the club has made the decision to terminate Milne’s playing contract.
