The Fiji Airways Drua have won their first National Rugby Championship game after thrashing Melbourne Rising 45-24 last night.
The national side produced a masterclass performance to outclass the Melbourne side as they rack up seven tries with winger Apete Daveta, flyhalf Peceli Nacebe and flanker Samuela Saqiwa scoring two tries each while center Eroni Vasiteri scored one.
Nadroga flyhalf Peceli Nacebe showed a man of the match performance when he danced through the Rising defence to score a 60 meters try before scoring a 80 metres try after picking up a lose ball from Fiji’s 22 meter line.
The Drua’s were rattled in the first half as they struggled to maintain possession and execute their set piece but were able to change their rhythm in the second half with running rugby and more offloads.
The half time score saw the Drua locked at 12-all with the Rising.
The Fiji Airways Drua will now travel back to Fiji to host the NSW Country at 3pm next Saturday at Lawaqa Park and you can catch the live commentary of this match on our sister station Viti FM.
