The Flying Fijians could be ranked in the top eight of the IRB World Rugby Rankings if they are able to beat the New Zealand Maori side on Saturday.
Fiji's victory against Samoa last Saturday did not result in a positional change for them as they remain in 10th place, although Ilivasi Tabua's side have improved their rating points and reduced the deficit to Ireland above them in eighth to a mere three tenths.
Fiji can go to eighth place with a victory over New Zealand Maori but that will also depend on the result of the Wallabies and Ireland match also on Saturday at 10pm in Melbourne.
Fiji will meet New Zealand Maori at 3pm Saturday at Lautoka's Churchill Park.
Meanwhile South Africa remains the worlds number one rugby side with New Zealand second and Argentina in third place. Samoa is now ranked 13th in the world, their lowest ever ranking while Tonga despite their 20-9 loss to New Zealand Maori is now ranked 12th in the World.
