The Fiji Rugby Union is yet to comment in relation to comments from International Rugby Board Sevens Manager Beth Coalter who believes that Fiji stands a fair chance to host a IRB Sevens Series leg.
After expressing interest earlier this year, Coalter said that Fiji will be invited to bid.
The hosting rights of the tournament’s series will end in 2016 which will then give Fiji the chance to contest the hosting of one of the IRB Sevens World Series legs and the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens.
Coalter said the governing body had sought expressions of interest from all member unions, including Fiji.
Coalter was in Fiji last year where she was able to assess the organisation and facilities during the Fiji Water 7s.
She said there were some issues to be ironed out, some of the organisation needs to be improved and the FRU needs to have good infrastructure with the organisation of a tournament.
Coalter believes that these can be achieved when everything is sorted out by the Fiji Rugby Union.
