England's men's and women's rugby sevens teams face being removed as a means of cost cutting as the Rugby Football Union in England looks to set to miss revenue targets ahead of the 2019‑20 season.
CNN reports the sevens program in England was under threat with the Rugby Football Union forced to make savings of up to $13 million.
Disbanding the sevens teams is being considered as one of a wide range of options to save funds.
The BBC also reports that the Rugby Football Union is considering removing the England Sevens team in favour of a Great Britain side.
A spokeswoman told the BBC that one solution is to combine with Wales and Scotland to form a Great Britain side on a permanent basis like they do in the Olympic Games.
