The quarterfinals for the Super rugby competition have now been determined following the completion of the 18 rounds of the regular season.

The Crusaders finished the regular season in first place with 58 points, the Jaguares finished in second place with 51 points and the Brumbies third with 48 points.

The Hurricanes finished the regular season with 53 points and all four of these teams have earned a home Super rugby quarterfinal.

Superxv.com reports as the Crusaders finished in first place they will play their matches at home in Christchurch unless they lose and are eliminated.

Should the Crusaders lose then the final will be hosted by the team with the next highest place in the final standings of the regular season.

The Highlanders have also made it to the Super Rugby quarterfinals for another year with other results going in their favour.

As the Bulls claimed a 48‑27 victory over the Lions in Pretoria to deny a bonus point the Highlanders have been guaranteed an eighth placed finish, booking a quarterfinal against the defending champions the Crusaders in Christchurch next weekend.

That result will mean a road trip for the Chiefs in their first week of the finals travelling to Argentina to face the Jaguares.

Finishing off round robin play with last night's win over the Blues, the Hurricanes will face the Bulls at home in their search for a second ever Super Rugby title.

Finally, Australian conference winners the Brumbies will face the Sharks after the Durban side claimed a dramatic win over the Stormers.
