North Queensland Cowboys co-captain Matt Scott is out of the NRL Grand Final

North Queensland Cowboys co-captain Matt Scott is out of the NRL Grand Final.

Coach, Paul Green has delivered a grand final selection shock by ruling Scott out of the Cowboys line‑up unless one of his teammates goes down in the lead‑up.

Scott was named on the extended bench again today.

Scott has been pushing to return to the paddock some six months after what was feared to be a season‑ending ACL rupture, with the front‑row enforcer ready to play in last week’s grand final qualifier.

While a number of North Queensland players are carrying injuries, Green told the press that he will name Scott in his 21‑man squad on stand-by only, with no plans to change the 17 that downed the Roosters last Saturday.

The Cowboys take on the Storm in the NRL Grand final at 8.15pm Sunday.
