The All Blacks most‑capped centre and Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith has confirmed he is leaving New Zealand rugby at the end of the 2015 season.

33‑year‑old Smith will join French club Pau on a two‑year deal at the end of what will be his 12th season of professional rugby in New Zealand.

New Zealand Rugby CEO Steve Tew said Smith has exemplified everything that was great about the game of rugby.

Tew said Smith's influence in rugby has also extended beyond the playing field.

Meanwhile, the Blues and the Hurricanes will be playing today at 3pm in Auckland in their last pre-season match.
