With Aaron Cruden out, the Chiefs have tried Marty McKenzie, Damian McKenzie and Andrew Horrell in the 10 jersey with mixed results in the Super Rugby.
Coach, Dave Rennie appears to have settled on the elder McKenzie, Marty, as his starting first‑five, but some rugby pundits are saying that Rennie is making the wrong call.
Some are even saying that if the Chiefs want to have a chance, starting Damian McKenzie is the way to go.
Marty McKenzie has provided almost no spark to the stacked Chiefs backline however, younger brother Damian seems to be having the game to test the Highlanders' backline.
Playing under the roof in Dunedin and in perfect running conditions, unleashing Damian McKenzie could prove vital. In his games as starting first‑five, Damian is averaging more than 100 running metres per game, with more than 1.3 clean breaks and 4.6 defenders beaten per game.
The Chiefs will play the Highlanders at 7.35pm this Saturday in the Super Rugby playoff.
