It will be a case of 'catch me if you can' tomorrow when Carlin Isles, regarded as rugby's fastest man, looks to inflict more pain on Australia at the Sydney Sevens.
The 28‑year‑old, along with NFL convert Perry Baker, provide the USA with a blistering tag‑team of pace that the hosts must counter in their opening game on Australia Day at Allianz Stadium.
USA beat Australia 31‑14 in the recent World Series leg in Cape Town and have one eye on contending for the World Cup in San Francisco later this year.
Isles has recorded a faster personal best than New Zealand's top sprinter Joseph Millar.
Boasting a personal best of 10.13 seconds over 100 metres, the charismatic Isles was full of confidence at training on Tuesday.
He says he is in a real good shape, ready to put the hammer down and tear up the Sydney 7s.
USA and Australia feature in a pool that also includes Scotland and Canada.
Meanwhile, Fiji will play their first game against Samoa at 8.28pm tomorrow, then Russia in their second game at 5.09pm this Saturday before taking on New Zealand at 8.42pm this Saturday.
The quarterfinals will start at 12.28pm this Sunday, the semifinals are at 6.36pm while the final will kick off at 9.48pm.
In the Women’s competition, the Fijiana will be playing their first game against defending champion Canada at 11.22am tomorrow.
