For a player who has achieved just about everything in the game, World Cup victory on Saturday night would just about be the icing on the cake.
Billy Slater has never been part of a winning World Cup campaign on home soil but he has a chance to tick that off the bucket list when he runs out for Australia in Saturday night’s Final against England.
He has been in scintillating form throughout the tournament, with his two tries against Fiji last week seeing him become the greatest try scorer in World Cup history.
In 2017 Slater has returned back to his mantle as the best fullback in the game as well as tasting more Premiership success with Melbourne.
Now his focus is raising another trophy, this time in green and gold, in the hopes of making it a dream year all around.
Australia will take on England at 10pm Saturday in the Rugby League World Cup final.
