Highlanders fullback Ben Smith will be out of action for at least six to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury.
The Highlanders fullback went down during the 31‑31 draw with the Chiefs and initially there were fears that he had suffered a serious knee injury.
Highlanders assistant coach Glenn Delaney confirmed that Smith had suffered a soft tissue damage and could miss the remainder of the regular Super Rugby season.
Delaney also delivered positive updates on All Blacks Liam Squire and Waisake Naholo, with both available for selection against the Jaguares this Saturday.
Squire’s last game was when the All Blacks played against Ireland in Dublin last November.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders will host the Jaguares at 5.15pm Saturday.
On Friday, the Blues take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm while the Rebels meet the Reds in Melbourne at 9.45pm.
