The Barrett brothers and Ardie Savea are serving their second and final All Blacks rest weeks this week.
The Hurricanes’ star trio did not make the trip to Tokyo to take on the Sunwolves tomorrow night, despite having a bye the previous weekend.
Hurricanes coach John Plumtree says their absences were a mix of choice and his hand being forced by his national team players' resting requirements.
Plumtree says Savea and Beauden Barrett, played six games in a row, so the plan was to give them a fortnight to refresh and they miss out on a fair bit of travel, which is good for them both.
The Hurricanes will take on the Sunwolves at 10pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile in the other Super Rugby match tomorrow, the Chiefs will take on the Lions at 7.35pm.
On Saturday the Sharks will face the Reds at 1.05am, the Highlanders take on the Blues at 7.35pm, the Waratahs will take on the Rebels at 9.45pm while the Stormers play the Brumbies at 1.05am Sunday.
