Badminton championship to serve as trial
The Fiji Open singles badminton championship will serve as a trial for five International Championships for 2010 and 2011.

Association secretary Gabriella Wong said they will be selecting top badminton players from the Open Championship this weekend for the 2010 Oceania festival of Badminton to be held in Invercargill, New Zealand where the Thomas and Uber Cup Qualifiers, the Oceania Championships and the Continental qualifier for the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

Wong also said that selection will also be done for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 2011 Pacific Games in Noumea.

The 2009 Open Singles championship that will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Yat Sen Hall in Suva, and will feature all grades of athletes from 4 years of age to 50's.
