The Fiji team.

The Vodafone Fiji Soccer Team made a comeback to hold New Caledonia 2‑2 in a World Cup Qualifier at Churchill Park.

Fiji was trailing 2‑0 till the 47th minute when Saula Waqa headed the ball at the back of the net to get Fiji’s first goal.

New Caledonia led 2‑1 at half‑time.

Roy Krishna was brought into the field in the 50th minute and it did not take the Wellington Phoenix star long to get Fiji’s second goal.

Krishna connected with a free kick and scored the equaliser in the 54th minute.

The two sides will now face off in the second leg on Sunday in New Caledonia.

Meanwhile, Suva soccer striker, Setareki Hughes dislocated his elbow in the match yesterday.

This is confirmed by coach, Christophe Gamel who says that Hughes may not feature for Suva in the Fiji FACT semi final next Saturday.

Gamel says Hughes is ruled out for two to three weeks.

Nadi will face Suva at 4:30pm next Saturday in the second semifinal of the Fiji FACT while Rewa will play Labasa at 2pm in the first semifinal at Ratu Cakobau Park.
