Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team Coach, Gareth Baber says he is not looking for easy fixes, he is always learning from every opportunity, remaining steadfast and humble, working hard and always being able to accept the challenge.
Baber says when he was young his parents encouraged him to try new things and not get hung up on mistakes.
He says he is not referencing him testing the heat of a fire with his bare hands or running out to a busy road as that will be dealt with discipline but rather those learning opportunities which exists when managed by a teacher.
Baber also talked about the inspiration his parents provided him when he was young.
Baber says from a very young age he was determined to become a professional rugby player and whilst he did that and completed his studies, he did not think too much beyond that.
He says that it was only in the latter stages of his playing career that his thoughts turned to the potential of coaching being his next move.
Meanwhile, Fiji is pooled with France, Argentina and South Korea for the Los Angeles 7s which starts next Sunday.
