Australian Kookaburras thrash Fiji in opening match of Oceania Cup men's hockey

The Hockey World champion, the Australian Kookaburras had eight different scorers as they thrashed Fiji 17‑0 in their opening match of the Oceania Cup men’s hockey tournament.

Glenn Turner led the way with four goals while Trent Mitton and Blake Govers both bagged three and 20‑year‑old debutant Joshua Beltz scored his first international goal in the lopsided clash at Stratford in New Zealand.

In other results, New Zealand thrashed Samoa 37-0.

Fiji will take on Samoa at 2.30pm today.
