As rugby fans look forward to watch some of Fiji’s best 7s players in the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s this weekend, one player that the Australian 7s team will keep their eyes on is Marmin Barba the younger brother of NRL star Ben Barba.

Barba will be playing for the Aussie Thunderbolts and he packed more pace, skills and all round X factor than his older sibling.

The young gun has given up on playing NSW Country rugby league where he has scored over 50 Tries in the last two seasons.

Barba was only offered and signed a six week contract with the Australian Rugby Union to give him this one shot at making the Australian 7s team for the Wellington and Sydney 7s, hopefully leading all the way to Rio.

The Thunderbolts qualified for the tournament after winning the Central Coast 7s last year.

The Aussie Thunderbolts is pooled with Uluinakau, Uprising Beach Resort and Outrigger Beach Resort.

They will play their opening game on Thursday against Uprising at 11.07am.

Police is the defending champion.

The Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s will be held from Thursday to Saturday at Lawaqa Park.

You can catch the live commentaries of the Cup quarters from 3.40pm Friday, the Cup semis from 2.25pm Saturday and the Cup final at 5.30pm this Saturday on Viti FM.

Aussie Thunderbolts Squad: 1. Stephan van der Walt, 2. Tom Connor, 3. Sam Figg, 4. Simon Kennewell, 5. Conor Mitchel, 6. Matt Gonzales, 7. Marmin Barba, 8. Tom Lucas, 9. John Porch, 10. Henry Hutchison, 11. Tim Anstee, 12. Tom Merritt.
