Last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Almandin has been a top favourite for many locals placing their bets for the race which starts at the Flemington racecourse in Melbourne this afternoon.
Grants Betting Limited General Manager Vijen Sundar says they are expecting more people to come in and place their bets today.
The listed favourites for the Melbourne Cup are Marmelo, Almandin, Humidor, Rekindling, Wall of Fire and Max Dynamite.
Humidor is owned by former All Black loose forward Mark Carter.
