Forty horses have made second acceptances for next week's Melbourne Cup, including 12 internationals.

Yesterday Racing Victoria announced the updated order of entry, which is led by Japanese raider Admire Rakti, who is fresh from winning the Caulfield Cup.

The Lexus Stakes and the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington are the last chances for a horse to gain entry to the field of 24 with the winner earning a start if it is still declared for the race.

The Melbourne Cup race will be held next Tuesday.
