3 male Fijian lifters fail to win medals
Julia Timi wins gold medal for Fiji.

The three Fijian lifters participating in the 69kg Senior category in the 2016 Oceania Weightlifting Championship failed to win any medals.

William Bucknell was injured during his lifts and was prevented by the doctors to lift any further.

Tevita Tawai did not make it to the top 5 while Emosi Tabuasuka came 6th.

Fred Oala from PNG took the gold medal and lifted 278kg to beat Manuel Minginfel from the Federated States of Micronesia and Vester Villalon from New Zealand who won silver and bronze.

Meanwhile, Julia Timi won Fiji’s first gold medal today in the Womens 63kg junior category.

The Womens 69kg senior category is currently underway with Apolonia Vaivai from Fiji as the favourite.
