24 runners confirmed for Melbourne Cup

The list of the 24 runners for tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup race has been confirmed.

The listed favourite is last year’s champion Almandin.

Almandin is looking to become the first horse since Makybe Diva to win back‑to‑back Cups.

There will be 11 overseas‑trained horses on the field this year, equalling the record from 2011 and 2015.

Max Dynamite who came second to Prince of Penzance two years ago is a top favourite.

Who Shot The Barman is also back this year as another top favourite.

Other horses to look out for are Boom Time, Red Cardinal, Bondi Beach, Gallante, US Army Ranger, and Hartnell.

The prize money for the race is  Australian $6 million.

The Melbourne Cup race will start at 4pm tomorrow.
