English trained horse, Wall of Fire has made the list of top favourites for today’s Melbourne Cup race after its Jockey Craig Williams declared that the horse has dropped 5kg in weight ahead of the race.

Williams is planning to make Wall of Fire the first horse trained by an English man to win the Melbourne Cup.

The list of the 23 runners for today’s Melbourne Cup race has been confirmed.

The listed favourite is last year’s champion Almandin.

Almandin is looking to become the first horse since Makybe Diva to win back to back Cups.

There will be 11 overseas-trained horses on the field this year, equalling the record from 2011 and 2015.

Max Dynamite who came second to Prince of Penzance two years ago is also a top favourite.

Other horses to look out for are Boom Time, Red Cardinal, Bondi Beach, Gallante, US Army Ranger, and Hartnell.
