Cleared of a knee injury, Melbourne Storm player Sisa Waqa said he never thought he was good enough to play in a NRL grand final.
Speaking to news.com.au, Waqa said then again, he never thought his two brothers would be locked up in jail and paying the price for offences he never imagined they could commit.
Waqa said his family story is one of hope and despair where on one hand he is the pride of the family, and then on the other there is Gaby and Isoa Waqa, his brothers who are in prison.
Isoa Waqa was just recaptured yesterday.
The former Fiji police officer who is the son of former Fiji 7s assistant coach Etuate Waqa, said for him it was never easy seeing them go to jail and he gets pretty upset especially knowing his older brother, Gaby was a good rugby player who even played for the junior Fiji Bati side in the 1990s.
Waqa said every time he wears the Storm jumper, he always thinks about his family and brothers, and when he thinks about his two brothers in jail, it motivates him when playing as he wants to do them proud.
The Melbourne Storm will play the Canterbury Bulldogs on Sunday at 7pm.
