“Carting water to schools is our priority.”

This is the comment by the Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea who says that a total of 20 schools in the North have been assisted with an approximate number of more than 5,000 students.

Vocea says that students are now preparing for their external examination therefore they do not want them to be affected by the dry weather condition.

He says that they always keep in touch with schools to ensure that their water tanks are filled.

Vocea adds that the school heads are reminded to contact his department immediately if they need assistance.

He reveals that a total of $243,705 have been utilised for the distribution of water to the affected areas with more than 22,500 families affected.

Vocea also confirms that there is no rationing of water in the Northern division.

Meanwhile, Divisional Planning Officer Western, Sitiveni Tavaga says a few showers last week did not help them that much.

Tavaga says that they are continuing to cart water especially to those areas which are outside Water Authority’s reticulation system and urges schools in the West to contact his office for assistance.

He adds that more than $300,000 has been spent on supplying the 4.3 million litres of water so far.
