The Fiji Roads Authority has completed upgrading a footbridge in Muanikoso while another footbridge in Dibulu is expected to be completed by Friday.
The two footbridges are located in Narere, Nasinu.
FRA CEO Jonathan Moore says these two crossings are not FRA assets and are old pipe‑bridges which were converted by locals into footbridges due to the convenience of available access.
Moore says under the direction of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the FRA has arranged for upgrading of these footbridges by re‑decking with new timber and bracing boards.
He says this will include a rope guide rail to assist the elderly and safety for children.
FRA stresses this is not a reconstruction but FRA is upgrading the footbridges by re‑decking.
