Totoya island declared as 'Zero Tolerance Violence Free Community'

Totoya island is the first island in the Lau group to be declared as a Zero Tolerance Violence Free Community.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa officiated at the event during her visit as she led a government delegation currently on tour in the Lau group.

Vuniwaqa has so far visited Moala, Totoya, Oneata and Lakeba and has commissioned various development projects.

The visit by the government delegation provides an opportunity to the villagers to speak directly with the Minister during a talanoa session.

Vuniwaqa is accompanied by the Minister for Fisheries, Semi Koroilavesau and Assistant Minister for Women, children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar.

The delegation is also expected to visit Vanuabalavu and Nayau in the coming week.
