A taskforce is working around the clock to ensure that police officers entitled for the payment of the Job Evaluation Exercise are accounted for.

The executives of the Fiji Police Force and officials of the Former Police Officers Association had a meeting in relation to the payment this afternoon.

In a statement, the Fiji Police Force said the meeting was convened to address issues recently highlighted in the media regarding the payment of the Job Evaluation Exercise for serving and retired officers who served between the periods of 2004 to 2012.

The Former Police Officers Association President Ratu Meli Vakarewakobau said there was never an issue of concern by the Committee or its members regarding the allocation of funds or the nonpayment as raised in the media.

Ratu Meli said the Committee will continue to work with the Executives of the Fiji Police Force to ensure their members who are eligible for the payout are informed of what has transpired during today’s meeting.

Acting Commissioner of Police Isileki Vuniwaqa said the payout will include all officers who were serving during the Job Evaluation Exercise implementation period.

During 2015 National Budget address, Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had announced that they are adjusting the pay for police officers whose salaries were adjusted in 2009 due to the government=s Job Evaluation Exercise.

According to Sayed-Khaiyum, police officers will now receive a lump sum payment to make up the difference, putting them on a par with other security agencies.
