The President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama led the government delegation to present their reguregu to the late Permanent Secretary for Sugar, Manasa Vaniqi this morning in Waqadra, Nadi.

Speaking on behalf of the Government, I-Taukei Affairs official, Ro Aca Mataitini said Fiji has lost a hardworking man who was on  the forefront of the Sugar Industry.

Mataitini highlighted that at a short time when the sugar industry was undergoing reforms, the late Vaniqi provided his services quietly and faithfully.

The Government acknowledged his wife, Meiva Vaniqi for her support and endurance in letting her late husband undertake his work to the best of his ability till the day he was called to rest.

In response to the Government’s presentation, the villagers of Dreketi in Wailevu East said they are at peace that their son, the late Vaniqi did his very best.

They were happy to see the support from the Government delegation  who came to pay their last respect.

Vainiqi will be laid to rest at the Enamanu Cemetry in Nadi today.
