The Northern Health Office has begun a massive cleanup in an effort to destroy mosquito breeding places.
Health staff in Labasa moved around in the outskirts of Labasa town to clear all breeding grounds for mosquitoes over the weekend.
According to the Health Ministry, it has been established that there is an average of four new cases of dengue fever being reported to health facilities every day in the Northern Division.
The cleanup was mainly centered around Namara settlement outside Labasa town as this has been identified as a hotspot.
72 confirmed cases of dengue fever have been recorded in the Northern Division.
