Mission Pacific encourages recycling by launching new clear Sprite bottles

Mission Pacific is encouraging manufacturers and retailers to come on board and help prevent plastic bottles and cans from going to the landfill and make their way into the marine environment.

While speaking at the 20 year celebration of Mission Pacific’s recycling in Fiji and launching of clear Sprite bottles, Coca Cola Amatil Fiji’s General Manager Roger Hare says Fiji is the first country in the South Pacific to launch Sprite in a clear bottle instead of the traditional green bottle due to more demand of clear PET plastic from recyclers.

Mission Pacific collects and recycles over 200 tonnes of plastic bottles per year.

Hare says it is Mission Pacific’s responsibility to have a long term commitment to the sustainability of its packaging as a beverage.

He says the reason for launching the clear Sprite bottles is also for a change to increase the bottles recyclability so sprite bottles can continue to have another life.

Jane Bennett, Coca- Cola Oceania’s Brand Manager says Sprite has been synonymous with a green bottle since it was launched in 1961.
