As people continue with the last minute rush of Christmas shopping Police have maintained that the check points erected are necessary.

Police Chief of Operations Maretino Qiolevu earlier highlighted to Fijivillage that they will review the operation times of the checkpoints that have been erected following the escape of seven prisoners from the Naboro maximum prison early this morning.

People have raised concern regarding the major traffic jam that the check point has caused along Queens Road from Lami to Suva and from Suva City to Lami Town.

There's also major traffic along the Suva-Nausori corridor.

When questioned by Fijivillage on whether checkpoints will be in operation during peak hour traffic, Qiolevu maintains that it is still necessary to have checkpoints in operation throughout the day.
