Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi said it will be his privilege to visit Fiji after the return of democracy in September 2014.
Modi who will be in Fiji next Wednesday said he is excited about his visit adding that this will also be an opportunity to meet leaders and representatives of the 12 Pacific Island nations.
Modi said historical and ethnic links will bring him to Fiji Islands, 33 years after the last visit of India’s Prime Minister.
Modi added that they also owe Fiji a debt of gratitude for hosting their scientists in support of their Mars Mission.
India’s Prime Minister said they can build stronger economic cooperation and closer partnership in international and multilateral forums with friends in the Pacific.
Modi who has started his tour to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji is expected to meet more than 40 leaders from countries representing Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and the Pacific Region.
