Girmit day is marked to celebrate the spirit of adventure of the indentured laborers who left India to come to a foreign country.
The First Secretary for the Indian High Commission, J.J Varma made these comment while speaking at the Girmit Day Celebrations at the Fiji Museum today.
He says people of today should learn from the indentured laborers that if ever a need arises we should invoke the spirit of adventure and speak against any wrong that is being done.
Varma says this spirit of adventure will also help one to do new things in life.
A lot of students also participated in a drawing competition.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Fiji Museum, Adi Meretui Ratunabuabua says selected drawings will be taken to Australia next week for a display at Girmit Days celebrations in Newcastle.
