A 100% increase in grant allocation from $250 to $500 per child for students with disabilities has been welcomed by the Fiji Disabled People’s Federation (FDPF).

Fiji Disabled People’s Federation vice president Fuata Faukataufon says the assistance was testament of the Government’s commitment towards people living with disabilities and their future.

He says the various organisations representing people with disabilities are grateful for the assistance.

Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy says the government remains committed to the core principle of “No one left behind”.

$3.3 million has been set aside for special education while the grant allocation for students with disabilities has been increased from $250 to $500 per child to ensure that there are provisions for adequate resources to develop to their full capacity.
