32-year-old Rupeni Ledua of Totoya, Lau and 28-year-old Elani Ralota of Nabukaluka exchanged vows in front of one hundred people during the iTaukei Affairs Roadshow in Nabukaluka village, Naitasiri today.
The young couple have been together for three years and have two children.
Ledua says they were lucky to access that service where they do not have to wait for long hours or make the appointment at the Registrar’s Office.
Permanent Secretary of iTaukei Affairs, Savenaca Kaunisela says this was the first legal marriage ceremony to be conducted in the presence of the marriage officer before they were blessed by a pastor during a roadshow.
Kaunisela says this is one of the many services that they have provided to the people in the rural areas.
Other services provided are registrations of birth and the Vola ni Kawa Bula.
The two-day roadshow in Naitasiri ends tomorrow.
