The Fiji Roads Authority says the Ratu Mara road near Samabula is nearing the end of its life.
When questioned on what is being done regarding bad road conditions on the Ratu Mara road and nearby streets, the Authority says the road will pothole easily in periods of rain due to both, a lack of waterproofing and materials that can no longer perform their job.
The FRA says they will continue to reactively repair the potholes after rain until the road is rebuilt.
The Authority says for this year, road upgrade work will be carried out on Belo Street, Rose Place, Tawake Street, Gaji Road and Tuvana Place while upgrade work on other roads in Samabula will fall into next year’s program.
