“At the most vulnerable places, these cowards targeted our brothers and sisters”
These were the words of Reverend James Bhagwan while he spoke at the vigil held for victims of the terror attacks in Christchurch and in Sri Lanka at the FNU Pasifika Campus in Suva today.
Bhagwan said we have been made up of the same dust, we have the same colour of blood, we all have emotions, we all have humanity within us than why do we blame certain aspects of life on other religion, race or culture.
Bhagwan says that we must put aside our own differences and learn the meaning of basic human nature such as love, peace and harmony.
He adds that no religion speaks the language of violence and they stand with the religion of peace as stated in scriptures to maintain both external and internal peace.
A lot of youths were part of the 40 people that gathered to remember the victims of the two terror attacks and one of them was Nikhil Kumar who encouraged everyone to accept people for who they are and to not isolate or judge them based on their choices.
Also present at the vigil was New Zealand’s Deputy High Commissioner Halia Haddad and Chief Priest of the Siddique Islamic Centre Moulana Mohammed Fakher Alam .
