We are at fault and we must be held accountable for that - Kalouniwai

Over the past few weeks, it has been a challenging time for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces due to joint operations with the Fiji Police Force and the death of an individual in military custody, for which the military must be held accountable.

This was shared by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, during the Force Family Church Service held at Centenary Church in Suva, led by Force Chaplain Reverend Major Taniela Tama.

The Commander says they are at fault and they must be held accountable for that.

He reminded the soldiers of their roles, responsibilities, and the importance of following procedures guided by the law.

He also stressed the importance of leadership and the responsibility of addressing issues truthfully.

Commander Kalouniwai says the military is facing a very complex situation and, while they cannot undo what has happened, they must always remember that they are accountable for their actions.

He urged members of the force to continue the good work being carried out both locally and internationally.
