More than 60 families at Viwa, Naibalebale, Najia and Yakani Village in the Yasawa Group received food ration packs to help them cope the immediate aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Vaianu.

The Government-led interagency team concluded their field visits and initial damage assessments in the Yasawa communities after TC Vaianu.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Mosese Bulitavu, who was leading the relief team, also presented new water tanks to Viwa Village.

This initiative is part of the Village Improvement Scheme (VIS) program, spearheaded by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, aimed at strengthening community resilience and ensuring access to clean water for affected communities.

Bulitavu highlighted the importance of timely government support, saying their priority is to ensure that no family is left behind in the aftermath of TC Vaianu.

He adds that these supplies and infrastructure support are a small but vital step in helping communities recover and rebuild stronger than before.
