The iSoqosoqo Vakamarama ni Yasana o Naitasiri are calling on the Great Council of Chiefs Review Committee to ensure that the third council representative from each province be a woman.
This was highlighted by Adi Lagamu Baledrokadroka while presenting their submission to the GCC Review Committee in Vunidawa, Naitasiri.
She says the importance of having women participate in such councils is that they raise issues such as segregation, oppression, and gender-based violence that women and children endure.
Adi Lagamu says it is also important that the next generation is taught the importance of their roles, so they can build a better Fiji in the future.
She also requested if the GCC can always be open to having women representatives in the council.
