Communications Fiji Limited, the parent company of LegendFM, FM96, VITIFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage, has entered into a Public Service Agreement with the Government of Fiji covering the period April 1st, 2025 to July 31st, 2026.

The agreement provides financial support to the private broadcaster to deliver public broadcast services.

CFL’s General Manager, Charles Taylor welcomed the move, saying it recognized for the first time the vital role a private broadcaster like Communications Fiji Limited plays in providing public service broadcasting to the people of Fiji.

Taylor says this includes the provision of news and information, public service campaigns on key national challenges and vital broadcast services in times of national disaster.

He adds the fact is that Communications Fiji Limited is the only broadcaster in Fiji operating its own independent transmission service and the CFL network has the largest reach of any broadcast network in the country.

CFL founder and Chairman, William Parkinson says this network has been steadily built and developed over the last forty years solely from shareholder funds.

Parkinson says we are very proud of our record of public service particularly in times of national disaster.

He says there have been numerous occasions when CFL has been the only broadcaster in operation during and after cyclones and other events.

Parkinson says this move by Government recognizes that the CFL network is a vital national resource and will allow us to further strengthen our reach across the country.

The contract is valued at $1.732 million per annum.
