It was a special moment for Zeenia Mohammed as she graduated with five awards from Sangam College of Nursing after she topped her university in Labasa.

Mohammed says she is grateful to be able to celebrate this moment with her family after receiving great support from her lecturers in her education journey.

She says she had promised her parents that she would aim to receive all awards after the completion of her studies.

The 21-year-old says there were many struggles in her life however she knew that the only way to overcome the situation is by studying hard and achieving better things in life.

She received awards for Academic Excellence in the Department of Nursing Knowledge and Mental Health, Nursing Practice, Population Health and Best Leadership.

A total of 183 individuals graduated – 97 with a Bachelor of Nursing, 21 with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Midwifery and 65 completed the Aged Care and Community Care Program.

While speaking at the Sangam College of Nursing, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says the journey has been one of resilience, dedication and an unwavering commitment to the profession of nursing.

Professor Prasad says students have thrived in the academic environment, supported by a faculty that is dedicated to teaching about health care.

He says success is not just a reflection of hard work but also the quality and commitment of the staff, both academic and clinical, who have been the guides and mentors.
