To ensure that the villagers of Naviyago in Lautoka have proper roads, the village youths has taken the initiative to organise a fundraising to construct a proper tar seal road to the village.

The Village Headman’s wife, Laite Kuruilase, says the fundraising was supposed to be held last year, but they had to hold it off.

She says this year, they had raised this initiative in their village meeting, and the initiative was supported by the elders to hold the fundraising this Friday.

Kuruilase says every time it rains, the road leading to the village gets soggy and causes difficulty for those travelling to and from the village.

She adds due to the challenges faced by the villagers, the youths have taken up the initiative to construct a proper road to ensure travelling to and from the village is not a hassle during bad weather.

Kuruilase also highlighted that the village is facing challenges in terms of river landslides and damaged crossings.

Kuruilase says the relevant authorities have visited the sites, but until now, nothing has been done.

If you would like to assist in the fundraising, the youths from the different tikina will have a 'soli' from 10am this Friday at the Naviyago Village Hall, Lautoka.
